Hey lads and ladies! It's been a busy weekend over here at BLS Studio! www.facebook.com/bluelemonsky?… is a preview of one of the things we've wrapped up!
This here is our rendition of Link from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (red Goron tunic). LoZ: OoT is one of Nick's waitingtoolong (favorite games and subsequently mine as well. Nick really loved the red tunic in the game and the part where you are in Death Mountain, so he was exceptionally excited when we started this build. Link's tunic in this game is deceptively simple- it was a bear to pattern and went through three mock ups until I was satisfied with the draping on it. Ah, the late 1990's at it's best! The leggings were an easy thing to draft, as was the hat. I actually only went through one mock up on that! The most difficult thing sewing wise had to be the collar on the tunic and the undershirt. I made all of the belts out of real leather (mmmmm love me some real leather) as well as the boots and the weird gauntlet ring thingers. Nick gets all the credit for the boot patterning and the gauntlet ring thingers! I dyed a pair of white leather gloves brown to match the leather. The pouch you see on his belt here in the picture isn't exactly in the game but we added it so Nick could carry around his phone and whatnot. The Hylian shield deserves an entire write up on it's own and soon the sword shall too! I'll leave that bit to Nick since he is our armor and prop mastermind here at BLS Studio and the force of nature behind creating this beautiful replica. (Shield has been made, sword is in the works.)
We took this costume out for a test run this weekend and it went exceptionally well! We need to fix a few minor things and add the pouches on the baldric belt, and I need to trim the wig again (I'm a chicken when it comes to wig hair so I only take a little off at a time) but otherwise we are pretty darn pleased with this! More pictures to come in the next couple weeks! Also special thanks to Feo for her assistance and dealing with me when I'm grumpy. Nick and Feo are rockstars and I couldn't get anything done without them!
