LoZ: ALBW Princess Hilda's Crown

Hello all! I have been busy as of late sewing up a storm as well as working on a slew of props and accessories, as you can see here!

I'd like to present to you all a particularly fun project that I really really enjoyed making! Princess Hilda's crown (or diadem if you prefer) from the newest Legend of Zelda game for the Nintendo 3DS. I have played the game through myself several time and also on Hero Mode, and I have really loved it! Fantastic game with so much more scope and story than I expected for a handheld title.

As for construction notes it is really rather straightforward. The crown base is made from polymer clay that has actually been molded and it is sanded down for a very smooth surface that is really uniform despite that each piece is handmade. Primer and several layers of paint and a special clearcoat were used to get the gorgeous gold luster. The red gems are a lucky find of mine and are solid red glass. My current method of banding everything together is using a quadruple layer fabric tape that is really sturdy so it allows the crown to be sewn to the wig, but a wire circlet can easily replace that. This particular crown is actually for my little sister (sorry to disappoint- I will not be Hilda myself but I shall be another character from the game! c: ) and her head is actually bigger than my styrofoam head form so I couldn't attach the crown to it perfectly, which is why you see it hang down a little in the last picture. Oh well, C'est la Vie!
