LoZ: Skyward Sword Fi WIP

This is my only progress I have to show (unfortunately) of my little sister's Fi costume that we are putting together for her to wear. I finished what you see here sometime this past winter- obviously I have not been able to work on it since then.

I was going through a box trying to find some fabric waiting for fabric for commissions to dry after I washed it (always pre-wash your fabric kiddos! Unless it's wool or something. You know, be smart about it.) and I found the bag with all the supplies I have to make Fi. I literally have everything except the tights. I just have not had the time/remember about it, and it's terrible frustrating.

Lack of time is mostly due to commissions (yay!) and alterations on just about everybody's clothes/gown for my brother's wedding (not so yay... not getting paid...) and taking care of my poor still cancerous horse (where all my money goes). I swear, I will write a journal eventually. I just have to wait for the madness of the wedding to subside. LIFE WHY YOU SO CRAZY. Okay. Enough about that crap, shew, who wants to hear about that when you can read CONSTRUCTION NOTES!

This lovely dress is made of %100 cotton that has great stretch to it. It was bloody expensive so it better! Originally, it was white. But then I dyed it the purple you see now- I love dying fabric, it is one of my favorite things to do. I altered a dress pattern a bit, then put it all together and followed the two front seam lines with yellow bias tape, stitched on both sides a mere millimeter from the edge (I'm actually rather good at that) while following the curve of the lines. As usual, all seams are finished. Nothing bugs me more in the world than unfinished seams. It is a terribly comfortable dress. I should know, I tried it on. Personally, I think I am too curvy for Fi, but there you have it. And my little sister sings/dances, which is friggin' sweet. She deserves to be a cool character like Fi!
